Himmelgrün Terry Cloth

The story of the Himmelgruen Natural Terry Cloth

The raw material of the HIMMELGRUEN terry cloth products, the natural cotton, grows in the warm areas of south Turkey, in ÇUKUROVA and then in the western areas AYDIN and SÖKE.

The cores/kernels/pips of cotton are hard and therefore are left in the fields, laid into water ponds, so that they become very soft for further processing. The colouring depends on how intensive the sun was during the growth, but also how long the cores/kernels/pips have been in the water.
After the harvest follows the coring/seeding.

This raw cotton is then developed into thread.
After that follows the special treatments of the thread, like its fortification. This further treatment is called HASCHIL (size). HASCHIL is produced from pure potato starch and only natural additives for HIMMELGRUEN.

The thread now gets immersed in this liquid and tied around LEVENTS (very large spools).
These levents full of thread are attached to looms, where the actual production of the weaving of the terry cloth begins.
This is where big differences in the quality develop, which has a big effect on the comfort of the finished products. The denser (heavier) the material is woven, the fluffier and more comfortable the terry cloth will be.
HIMMELGRUEN has chosen the superbly fluffy terry cloth (Superflausch) 500g/square meter, to be able to offer the clients a long-lasting top quality.
The finished woven material then gets washed immediately.
In huge baths it is cleaned thoroughly from dust and HASCHIL.

And it is only now that the natural terry cloth is differentiated from the conventional products. Every conventionally/traditionally treated terry cloth is now coloured or bleached using chemicals, depending on the finishing or special colour choices.

There are no chemicals used for the HIMMELGRUEN natural terry cloth production.
The natural colour stays the way it had developed during growth and harvesting. That's why the natural terry cloth gets lighter with every wash. One shouldn't get fooled into thinking the product has bleached. It's a sign of naturalness, if you like and also a proof of the ecological processing, if the natural procedures, which began during growth and the environmentally compatible processing, continue during washing.

When the material is finished and ready for sewing, it gets transported to the partner workshop. (our workshops?)

HIMMELGRUEN-bathrobes and terry cloth slippers are produced using our own design and high standards.
When finished the products are cleaned by hand from left over threads, then undergo quality control inspections and finally packed and transported with our best wishes and luck for a positive co-operation, which we want to give to you directly.

Now everything is ready for transport.
We pray for a good transport and for luck, that the products will sell easily, with the knowledge that we have done the best we can for people who show respect towards nature and the environment, in which we and our children live.

Now we know that a towel or bath towel can only develop under such circumstances and with such an effort, we shouldn't forget this, but use this excellent quality with thankfulness and maybe even awestruck by nature and with consideration of the great creative power of the people who produce them.

...treat yourself to HIMMELGRUEN, naturally because it feels good!
